Pride Walk (A Point of Pride)
Every June and July people and companies across the world are reminded queer people exist, and that we really like rainbows. Lots of them. I have no honest problem with “pride-washing” – while I don’t know if there is anything truly sincere behind corporate logos overlayed on a rainbow flag, it’s still nice to feel seen. I don’t mind it because it becomes regular, it becomes normalized. This is a great example. This seemingly seasonal Pride flag painted across a crosswalk at Exhibition Place in Toronto remains on the ground all year long. It’s maintained and it’s a point of year round pride for The Canadian National Exhibition and indeed Toronto itself.
